Silurian-Devonian-Carboniferous-Cretaceous

(Teruel-Puertollano-Las Hoyas)

25th – 30th June, 2022

  • Number of Participants: 35 people maximum (following strict order of registration/payment)
  • Cost per person (approx.) 600 €, including 5-night accommodations, meals, and transportation

Day 1. Dinopolis Park

Saturday, 25th June 2022

Departing from Valencia to Teruel city with stop in Dinopolis Park, an example of the role and importance of Palaeontology in the development of rural areas. We will spend the night in Teruel city.

Day 2. Silurian-Early Devonian

Sunday, 26th June 2022

Silurian-Early Devonian sections and fossil sites in Eastern Iberian chains (Teruel province), we will spend the night in Daroca.

Day 3. Middle Devonian

Monday, 27th June 2022

Middle Devonian Fossil sites (Carolowilhelmina, Grossius) in Eastern Iberian chains (Teruel province). Visit of the local “Museum of the Palaeozoic Seas” and examination of Lower Devonian microichthyolite collections loaned by UV (Leonodus, Celtiberina, Machaeracanthus, Obruchevacanthus, etc). Drive to Cuenca city where we will spend the night.

Day 4. Early Cretaceous Konservat-Lagerstätt

Tuesday, 28th June 2022

Visit of the Early Cretaceous Konservat-Lagerstätt of “Las Hoyas”, located in the municipality of La Cierva, very close to the city of Cuenca and the Palaeontological Museum of Castilla La Mancha. Drive to Puertollano (Ciudad-Real province) were we will spend the night.

Day 5. Carboniferous

Wednesday, 29th June 2022

Carboniferous fossil site of Puertollano (several stops). Overnight in Puertollano.

Day 6. Return

Thursday, 30th June 2022

Participants can return to Valencia in our vehicles or travel directly to Madrid (high-speed train) for connecting flights. Estimated time of arrival in Valencia 13.00.
